Position Title: Planner/Estimator

Summary Description
Responsible for planning/estimating of Repair items and Ship Alterations including work definition, material identification and cost using drawings, technical documents,  NAVSEA Standard Items, Appendix 4-E of the SUPSHIP Operation Manual and Navy Maintenance Data (NMD) computer programs.  Responsible for correct formatting of Work Orders and Estimates in accordance with published directives. Knowledge of Hull and Ship Systems with a well rounded overall understanding ship repair and modernization with trade disciplines required to support work item development. A thorough understanding and familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items, GSO, NSTM and Blueprints is required.

Essential Results

  • Responsible for the development of properly formatted 4E specifications/work items containing all required technical information and production information, by conducting ship-checks and review of ship system drawings, blueprints and technical publications to gather necessary information for input into the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) for subsequent approval by Government representatives.
  • Develop Work Items containing all required technical information and production information. Input information into appropriate computer programs.
  • Maintain historical references, documents, work orders and organizing them in a master electronic file for future use.
  • Read/write Navy specifications, have knowledge of Navy Standard Item requirements.

Education Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Certificate, AA degree, Trade level journeyman work experience or equivalent.

Experience Required
Minimum five (5) or more years in a shipyard production environment with at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity. Knowledge of ship construction, shipboard systems, equipment and their operations is necessary. Experience should include a working knowledge of all areas of Production, such as craft parameters, material requisitioning, purchasing, scheduling, quality assurance and testing requirements, contract specifications, regulatory body requirements and receiving and warehousing.

 

Position Title: Senior Consulting Manager

Summary Position Description
Responsible for business development and execution of programs/tasks in the areas of Ship Maintenance and Modernization for C4I, Warfare Systems, Program Management, Logistics, Marine Engineering, and Maintenance Engineering/Management.  Opportunities exist to support US Navy, international and domestic commercial/Federal civil clients. Will have responsibility for project/program quality, schedule and cost (P&L).  Position requires the ability to market technology solutions, as well as new and follow-on work.  Knowledge of ISO a plus.  Candidates will normally be recognized as industry experts in their field, and will have the ability to manage subordinate program managers and personnel. Strong written and verbal communication, and team building skills, required – as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Education
Bachelor degree in Engineering or Business, or equivalent experience.

Experience
15 years of related experience required. 20 or more years of related experience will satisfy the education requirement.

 

Position Title:  Engineering Technician

Summary

Assembles, installs, repairs, tests, and/or adjusts electronic equipment or parts, such as industrial controls, transmitters, and antennas. 

Essential Requirements
Basic mechanical, electrical, wiring, soldering or connecting skills for adjusting and replacing defective or improperly functioning circuitry and electronics components, using hand tools and soldering iron.

  • Certified for fiber optics or multi-pin and coaxial connectors
  • Performs preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems
  • Operates, adjusts and tests mechanical and electrical equipment and records test data
  • Performs customer support activities involving installation, modification and repair of equipment and systems
  • Assists in field activities such as data collection, equipment or machine design, testing, quality control and efficiency studies
  • Reads, reviews, and studies project instructions, blueprints, schematics, manuals and other specifications to determine installation, repair, material or other problem solving procedures.
  • Inspects components of equipment for accurate assembly and installation and for defects such as loose connections and frayed wires.

Education
High School or equivalent.  Military A & C schools a plus.

Experience
Minimum 3 years experience.  Military shipboard experience as ET/EM/IC/GSE.

 

Position Title:  Electrical or Electronic Technicians

Summary Position Description
The Electrical or Electronic Technician lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and modifies developmental and production electrical and/or electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems, such as computer equipment, missile control instrumentation, electron tubes, test equipment, and machine tool numerical controls, applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics. The Electrical or Electronic Technician usually works under the direction of the engineering staff.

Position Requirements
The Electrical or Electronic Technician is required to apply knowledge of applicable principles, methods and techniques of engineering and design and must be capable of performing tasks with minimum supervision.  In addition, the Electrical or Electronic Technician is required to perform detailed information searches, correlate and interpret technical data and present technical documents (reports, technical manuals, detailed design drawings, etc.)  The position requires demonstrated experience in field engineering and troubleshooting, repair and testing of equipment, systems and components on board ships.  

Education and Experience

  • High School or Trade school diploma required, with four (4) years of directly related experience gained through the performance of engineering or design activities.
  • Must possess recent shipboard or commercial full service shipyard work experience.

Position Title: Drafter

The Drafter prepares and modifies engineering drawings using Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) systems to prepare drawings.  The Drafter creates and stores drawings electronically to provide visual guidelines to construct a product or structure. Drawings include technical details and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures. Drafters are responsible for  making necessary calculations, diagrams and analysis to develop plans, reports etc and to fill in  technical details using drawings, rough sketches, specifications, and calculations made by engineers, surveyors, architects, or scientists.  

Education

Junior level positions require graduation from high school, trade, industrial, or vocational school in which credits were received for courses in mathematics, science, computer technology, design, computer graphics, drafting, surveying, physical science, engineering or engineering technology.  

Mid and Senior level positions require graduation from high school, trade, industrial, or vocational school in which credits were received in mathematics, science, computer technology, design, computer graphics, drafting, surveying, physical science, engineering or engineering technology and must have received credits for all of the following:  Algebra, plane geometry, trigonometry, drafting and physics.

Experience

Requires progressively more difficult structural, mechanical, electrical or electronic drafting with corresponding decrease in direct supervision.  Requires judgments in recommendation of alternative design or materials and in planning or conceiving engineering systems, structures, machinery, electrical or electronic installations to meet performance, economy, safety, size, strength, durability, producibility and maintainability factors.  Naval progressive design experience in the Naval Ship design field within the last five (5) years.

 

Position Title: Accounts Payable Specialist (Part-time)

The Account Payable Specialist must be able to apply practical knowledge/understanding of general accounting practices under general supervision.  Duties may include invoice reconciliation, inputting financial data into accounting system, reconciling account balances, auditing accounting files, analysis of data and additional duties as assigned. Additional responsibilities include the preparation of correspondence, memos, etc.

This position requires the ability to use mathematical functions (percentages, ratios, averages) for routine reports, graphs, and charts. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Knowledge of GCS Premier is preferred. 

Ability to use correct verbal usage, written or oral, is needed to accurately post, carry out and understand assignments, or convey and/or exchange routine information.

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or an Associate’s degree with 3 years experience.

Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

 

Position Title: Designer (Part-time)

Summary

Under general supervision with design originators, uses CAD workstation to develop hull structure and outfitting engineering drawings for SHIPALTS and SCD’s in accordance with NAVSEA Technical Specification 9090-600.

Essential Requirements

  • Produces and or coordinates drawings within project standards from sketches, layouts and notes.
  • Develops drawings and conceptual plan studies within structural engineering and project standards with guidance from others.
  • Provides sketches of ideas for approval.
  • Prepares design modifications from provided sketches and data.
  • Uses AutoCAD drafting and interfaces with Project Engineers

Education

Associate’s Degree + 3 years of CAD experience in a professional engineering environment OR 5 years CAD drafting experience with High School diploma.  Must have completed CAD instruction course or training.

Experience

Must have shipboard experience and be able to accomplish shipchecks including climbing ladders and masts, working in confined spaces and in a shipyard environment.
