Position Title: Software Quality Assurance Engineer
Summary Position Description Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a full time Software Quality Assurance Engineer with experience in assessing and training software engineering process, as well as performing quality assurance of software development projects. Successful candidate will provide Quality Assurance support and continuous improvement to all software related projects. Participate in development and implementation of project teams to ensure Quality objectives are achieved within predetermined timelines. Ensure comprehensive and effective lifecycle management approach to all software validation activities. Ensure the quality of software through application of standard software QA practices and adherence to our client’s Quality System and product development process.
Education
- BS CS or EE or equivalent
- Certified Software Tester (CSTE or equivalent)
- ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer or similar preferred
- Certified in ISO9000 and/or CMMI
- SEI certificate in Software Engineering Process Management is desired.
Experience
- 5+ years Software QA experience in modeling and simulation product preferred
- Experience designing and executing requirements-driven, functional test cases and test suites or experience reproducing and documenting software defects
- Keen quantitative and analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to identify software risks and develop tests to mitigate them
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Development and execution of test procedures, analysis and submission of defects, working closely with developers to define test strategies and debug software, participating in cross-functional project meetings, writing project documentation, participating in continuous process improvement, and possibly serving in a lead QA role for software releases.
- Responsible for QA activities related to software validations.
- Review and approve software validation documentation (protocols, reports, data sheets, etc.)
- Lead process improvement teams.
- Assure validation activities and documentation meets all compliance requirements.
- Validate that product meets defined and established quality & reliability standards
- Reviews product test plans, procedures, strategy documents, Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM), benchmark testing and other test documentation as required
- Reviews test reports and metrics for internal management and external assessor reviews
- Participates in the validation of new and changed software releases against specified requirements
- Develops and executes test cases and suites to establish products conformance to the defined quality & reliability standards
- Designs, develops and executes functional and performance automation tests
- Initiates, develops and implements industry best practices designed to increase product quality and team effectiveness
- Analyzes field issues and performs root cause analysis to improve coverage of existing test suites and to improve effectiveness of existing processes

Position Title: Planner/Estimator 09G701
Summary Position Description Responsible for planning/estimating of Repair items and Ship Alterations including work definition, material identification and cost using drawings, technical documents, NAVSEA Standard Items, Appendix 4-E of the SUPSHIP Operation Manual and Navy Maintenance Data (NMD) computer programs. Responsible for correct formatting of Work Orders and Estimates in accordance with published directives. Knowledge of Hull and Ship Systems with a well rounded overall understanding ship repair and modernization with trade disciplines required to support work item development. A thorough understanding and familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items, GSO, NSTM and Blueprints is required.
Essential Requirements
- Responsible for the development of properly formatted 4E specifications/work items containing all required technical information and production information, by conducting ship-checks and review of ship system drawings, blueprints and technical publications to gather necessary information for input into the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) for subsequent approval by Government representatives
- Develop Work Items containing all required technical information and production information. Input information into appropriate computer programs.
- Maintain historical references, documents, work orders and organizing them in a master electronic file for future use.
- Read/write Navy specifications have knowledge of Navy Standard Item requirements.
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Certificate, AA degree, Trade level journeyman work experience or equivalent.
Experience Required Minimum five (5) or more years in a shipyard production environment with at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity. Knowledge of ship construction, shipboard systems, equipment and their operations is necessary. Experience should include a working knowledge of all areas of Production, such as craft parameters, material requisitioning, purchasing, scheduling, quality assurance and testing requirements, contract specifications, regulatory body requirements and receiving and warehousing.
